Beverley's Story
I received a request from a senior manager for some transformational coaching. The goal was to prepare them for an intense interview and assessment, to ultimately become successfully appointed into a more senior role. After undertaking some reflection work and self-analysis of their current skills set, matching to the core skills being requested, we began to prepare. My client and I established some core strengths and some small challenges that could become a stumbling block.
As an additional resource, I decided to take up the DISC report to further enhance my clients preparation for interview and assessment. I did not have a DISC licence as a coach but knew how valuable it would be to my client to help them achieve their dream goal of appointment to a senior role. I called upon my fellow professional coach, Claire Cahill who is an approved licensed DISC personality profiler. This report provides an accurate profile which covers four key areas of the client.
We both discussed this intervention and how it could enhance my client by them seeing in a report what their key strengths and areas for development are.
I called on Claire to undertake the DISC profile with my client. They came away with an 18 page report of their leadership and management skills as well as graphs that highlight how they behave in certain situations.
On receipt of the report, Claire debriefed my client with the outcomes of the report so that they were clear on the DISC areas that had been reported on. My client and I then continued to work towards achieving the goal in hand and used the DISC report to help shape preparation for questions and answers in the interview and assessment.
I am delighted to say that my client’s goal was achieved. They were successfully appointment into the dream senior role. The client felt that the report would also help them throughout their first 100 days of their new senior appointment. My client and I will continue to use the DISC report as a key frame of reference going forwards.

Following, a conversation I had with Claire about the job hunting process I was going through, she suggested I complete the DISC profile. To be honest, I was reluctant at first as I was sceptical about doing another type of profile test; I had done other similar tests before and found them quite labelling and not very helpful. In general terms, they told me what I already knew about myself and didn’t provide me with any useful information.
What I liked about DISC was that it provided a report which Claire went through in great detail. This gave me valuable information that I could use, not only for job hunting but in every day life and work situations. It not only enabled me to see how my profile impacted my behaviours, relationships and the way I communicated, but equally as valuable it enabled me to gain an awareness of how people with different profiles were impacted in the same areas. I was curious to find out what this DISC business was all about. I had met Claire earlier this year at a brilliant networking event in Sheffield, just before lockdown. We built a rapport and supported each other virtually. I then decided to take Claire up on her DISC and coaching offer.
I answered all the questions as Claire explained on her email. Don’t overthink them, she said. So I did exactly what Claire asked.
A couple of days later, Claire sent me my results and we set up a Zoom call so that she could explain them in more detail to me. It was like looking into a huge mirror and confronting my traits head on.
The experience has made me focus on tasks I tend to put off! Like finalising my tax return.
It has also made me look at myself critically and see how others may perceive me. It has made me so much more aware of little things that I can actually change to improve relationships with colleagues going forwards.

Joanne's Story
I was already a DISC accredited coach but Claire and I connected over LinkedIn and decided to get together for coffee as collaboration not competition is our mutual perspective on business. As part of our conversation we began to realise that we used DISC in different ways as I work predominantly with teams and helping to structure team roles and responsibilities to suit profiles and training teams so that they can work better together. More than that Claire introduced me to a different tool which I could use with my clients.
Before I used the new tool with clients I wanted to experience it as an end user myself to experience how the software works and also Claire’s style of giving the feedback.

Deborah's Story
I recently had a DISC Report and some coaching with Claire, and I was impressed with the outcome. Firstly, the DISC Report itself helped me to understand my personality traits and how I can use these to my benefit, whether personally or in my business. It was also really useful to see how my traits change when I’m under pressure and any differences between my behaviours in private and in public. Having the coaching with Claire afterwards to discuss this was very insightful, but Claire’s DISC offer went well above my expectations. Secondly, having discussed how I should interact with other personality types, we were able to identify who my ideal client might be (or not be!). We then took that even further to think about how my marketing messages can tap into the strengths and challenges for these clients. I mean, that’s gold-dust. The session gave me so much to think about, and having already given some thought into adapting my communication style, and I will also be using the insights into re-thinking some of my sales copy too. On top of this, Claire delivers the report and insights in a way that made me feel confident that it’s OK to be me – it doesn’t matter what type of personality type I am, I have strengths which should be admired. I felt very empowered after my session with Claire and would have no hesitation in recommending her to any business owners wishing to delve into their personality with a DISC profile or with leadership and confidence coaching.
